Happy New Year!

Well....here we are in 2011 already.  I am genuinely unsure exactly where 2010 went as it seems to have passed by in a flash.

What do I have to show for it though?  Highlights of 2010 for me are limited....it wasn't my best personal year by some distance.  But I do have much to grateful for.  I still have a good job, which in the times we now face, is not something that anyone can take for granted.

2010 was "the year of the project" for me....seeing me embark on a frenzy of writing (story drafted, 60,000 words written but never finished), knitting (about 20 hats and seven scarfs, and one and a half jumpers to be exact), dress making (three dresses, a couple of terrible tops and a passable skirt) and blogging (sporadic but I am trying).  My track record at all of these projects is patchy as you can see, but I need something to keep my mind occupied, and 2010 was so packed full of stress that distraction was the key to my mental survival!!

2011 will be the year that I actually complete things.  That is my new year's resolution.....well one of them.  I have also resolved to lose some of the weight I have gained during 2010 and have decided I am going to try and cook more (possibly not the most complimentary of resolutions ha ha!).

To assist me in the "completing things" resolution, husband and I are currently knee-deep in house reorganisation with the objective of creating a room for me to use for my creative side.  A den just for me....somewhere that I can house all of my wool, sewing machine, laptop and endless pages of story notes all of which have littered the house at various points over the last 12 months.

So far so good.  I have a desk.  Laptop is in place (I am currently using both to type this) and there is a mass of photos all over the floor that I intend to plaster all over the walls to personalise my space.  My room is going to be a shrine to everything and everyone I love.  My own personal place to crash.  My creative hub, if you will.  Bliss.

I will sign off now and start unleashing the blue tack and stick some of these pictures up.

In the meantime, happy new year and good luck will all of your resolutions....unless you have been smart enough not to make any!

I don't really do resolutions..but I like your taking on "completing things". Good luck in your "finishing" quest!
