Can You Spare 69 Seconds to Beat Breast Cancer

I came across a post on a blog that I follow called Romanian Princess this morning, and it caught my attention because it focused on a subject close to my heart.  Cancer.

The post asked that to support the fact that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we take 69 seconds out of our day to do something to raise awareness of the disease.  It is important that we focus on this illness in order to improve the chances of finding a cure but also to show solidarity and support for those battling against the disease.

In recent years I have lost two friends to cancer - one to breast cancer - and in my lifetime, many dear family members have fought it with varying degrees of success.  My grandfather lost a kidney due cancer and my grandmother had colon cancer.  Both survived the disease, but the experience of watching them face the illness, even as a child, remains with me over 25 years later.

Cancer is a terrifying disease but one that can be challenged and hopefully, one day, cured.

In the spirit of raising awareness, can you please do something today that will pass this message along?  69 seconds is no time at all, and you can do your bit simply by tweeting or Facebooking this message (links at the bottom of this post), writing your own post, updating your Facebook status appropriately...anything.  Just pass the message along.

Cancer is strong, but if we can pull together to beat it, we are stronger.

Please do your bit......69 seconds is all it will take.

Cancer is indeed terrifying and it had torn my family apart at times, my mother has lost most of her family to it. We're raising breast cancer awareness at my work by wearing pink ribbons all through October. Great post! Thanks so much for following and linking up at Sisterhood Sunday! I'm following you now too :)
